Battle of the Bulge – Part 2

Today I am posting three more foods that help us win that battle.

Green Tea:  So you are probably thinking that the slimming ingredient in Green Tea is caffeine, right?  Well, it’s not.  Antioxidants called catechins are what help speed metabolism and burn fat.  And green tea contains catechins.  A study that consisted of 35 men who drank a bottle of oolong tea mixed with green tea catechins lost weight and boosted their metabolism.  And as an extra bonus, the participants also lowered their LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol).

Pears: Better than apples, pears come in at number one with filling you up and satisfying those tummies. Pears contain pectin fiber, which is beneficial in lowering your blood-sugar levels, which helps you avoid snacking between meals.  Pears are also very good for regularity.

In a Brazilian study that lasted 12 weeks, overweight women who consumed three small pears daily lost more weight than women on the same diet who ate three oat cookies a day instead of the fruit.

A cup of chicken soup, even the simplest of soups, satisfies hunger because the brain perceives it as filling.  Be cautious of the salt content as some soups (canned soups) tend to be high in salt.  Check out the salt content, especially if you suffer from hypertension.
