The Acai Berry

Today’s blog is about the Acai Berry, pronounced “ah-sigh-ee”.  For those of you who do not know what the Acai Berry is, here are some facts about the tasty and healthy berry.

The Acai Berry is a dark purple fruit that resembles a grape and are grown on a special palm tree in the Amazon. They are rich in omega and 9 fatty acids, which help increase the metabolic rate and can help reduce cholesterol levels.

They contain powerful antioxidants that help defend the body against stress and also play a role in the body’s cell protection. In fact, the acai pulp has more antioxidants than the cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry or blueberry.

Plenty of research supports eating a diet rich in antioxidants. No doubt that berries and other fruits are a part of a healthy diet promoting weight loss.

Known by marketers as one of the elite super foods with anti-aging and weight loss, some manufacturers even use acai berries in cosmetics and beauty products.

Recent scientific research is proving some amazing health benefits to sex and the Acai berry.  Amazon natives know it as a natural and safe aphrodisiac.  In fact, it is referred by the locals as the “Viagra of the Amazon”.

I add them to my cereal in the morning and to my yogurt snack in the afternoon.  And for the chocolate lovers out there, you can find these berries covered in dark chocolate too.  Yummy!   Give it a try.
