Hello everyone. Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July holiday yesterday!
Here is the fourth installment of the “Battle of the Bulge” series.
Like Oatmeal? Sprinkle a little cinnamon on your morning oatmeal or for those mid-afternoon sugar slumps sprinkle a little on whole-grain toast for that afternoon snack.
Research found that a little cinnamon could help control post-meal insulin spikes, which make you feel hungry. In fact, there was one study by the USDA that actually showed that a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon a day can lower your blood sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
Researchers found that people who ate bread dipped in vinegar felt fuller than those who had plain bread. The Acetic acid in the vinegar may slow the passage of food from the stomach into the small intestine, so your tummy stays full longer.
Shocking, huh? It seems too light to fill you up, right? A Louisiana State University study showed that tofu is the right food item to help you feel full. Researchers tested it against chicken as a pre-meal appetizer and believe it or not, the participants who had tofu as an appetizer ate less food during the meal. And they say the secret is that Tofu is an appetite-quashing protein.
Next week, we will be wrapping up this series and ending with the last three food items to help you in your struggle to lose weight.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
